Our team was proud to deliver a full internal and external decoration package for the new Barker & Stonehouse flagship store at the Metrocentre in Gateshead. Designed to showcase some of the UK’s most sought-after designer home brands, the new store represents a significant investment in the region’s retail offering and provides customers with a truly premium shopping environment.
Working within a large-scale new-build development, we provided high-quality decoration works throughout the store, helping bring the retailer’s vision to life and making sure that every space reflected the quality and craftsmanship associated with the Barker & Stonehouse brand.
The brief
Barker & Stonehouse needed an experienced decorating contractor to deliver the internal and external decoration package for its new flagship Metrocentre location.
The new store was designed to be far more than a traditional furniture showroom. Alongside extensive retail displays, the development would feature the in-house Chadwick & Co bistro and Barker & Stonehouse’s first-ever co-working lounge, creating a destination experience for customers and visitors.
The brief required a consistently high standard of finish across a large retail footprint, with decorative elements carefully chosen to complement premium furniture collections and designer brands. Every aspect of the decoration package needed to contribute to the luxurious look and feel expected of a flagship retail space.
The solution
The DS Painting & Decorating team delivered a complete programme of internal and external decoration works throughout the new store.
We carried out the installation of premium wallcoverings across key areas of the development. This included feature walls and display pods designed to enhance product presentation and create some visual interest throughout the showroom. We hand-picked these finishes to achieve a flawless appearance and support the premium customer experience Barker & Stonehouse was looking to create.
Alongside the specialist wallcovering installation, we completed full decoration works to internal walls, woodwork, and metalwork throughout the building for a consistent, high-quality finish across all customer-facing and operational spaces.
Externally, our team carried out decoration works to masonry surfaces, providing a professional finish that complemented the scale and prestige of the new flagship development. Throughout the project, we worked closely with the wider construction team to make sure works were delivered efficiently and to the highest standards.
